Born and raised in San Francisco, saxophonist Fil Lorenz has been active on the national music scene since returning from military service in 1998. Lorenz has performed with the top names in the business, from the orchestras of Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey to blues-rock stars Melissa Etheridge, Huey Lewis and The News; 60s icons Frankie Avalon, Little Anthony and the Imperials, Darlene Love, Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons; Soul and Motown legends The Temptations, The O’Jays, The Four Tops, Gladys Knight and Mary Wilson (of the Supremes); multi-instrumentalist Bobby Caldwell; modern day soul/R&B star, Seal; the iconic Tony Bennett; contemporary artist Lady Gaga…and many others.

As a saxophonist, Lorenz favors the broad-toned tenor sounds of Don Menza, Eddie “Lockjaw” Davis and Houston Person, the romantic alto saxophone stylings of Marshal Royal, and beast master baritone saxophonists Pepper Adams and Ronnie Cuber, who have provided a lifetime of inspiration.
